Ice Softball

LOCATION UPDATE: SOFTBALL WILL TAKE PLACE AT WALLACE PARK AT 675 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE.

LAKE/ICE UPDATE, 1/29: Per Lake-Link.com, ice thickness on Rock Lake is 9″ (though it has been reported by local ice cutters and fishermen to be as thin as 5-7″ toward the center). However, ice conditions will continue to deteriorate due to warm temps and sunshine in the forecast for this week. As such, for safety’s sake, all activities on Rock Lake are being canceled or adapted to solid ground.

TIME: Saturday, 2/3/24 – Team Captains meet at 8:30 am at Sunshine Brewing Co.; first round of games start at 9 am at Bartel’s Beach. Play ends before sunset.

LOCATION: Bartel’s Beach, 210 S Ferry Drive (North).

COST: $20.00 per person (minimum of 9 players per team) with proceeds going to Legendary Lake Mills Chamber Main Street.

INFO: Must be 18 to play. Slide (across the ice) into home plate! Get a team together or sign up as a free agent and register online.

Played with a mush ball, participants should wear snow gloves not softball/baseball gloves. For footwear, just bring snow boots – no strap-on ice gripping devices allowed. Each team needs to bring their own bats but the mush balls will be provided.

RULES/FORMS: Maximum of 8 teams. Each team of 9 players needs to have a minimum of 3 female participants; one person is designated as Team Captain. The tournament schedule and layout will depend on final team quantity.

TEAM SIGNUP by Monday, 1/22/24; schedule shared by 1/29/24.

Every team will provide 2 umpires for another game.

9-players on the field at a time, including the catcher. The field dimensions will mimic typical “high school softball” layout.

Games are 7 innings or 50 minutes of play. 10-run rule. First feet sliding, any head first sliding is an automatic out.

Each player receives a KIF drink ticket redeemable at various Lake Mills’ establishments over the weekend. See back of ticket for locations!
