Important Update

January 31, 2017 – Ice events will go on as planned! Ice Golf, Ice Softball, Ice Diving and the Fisheree.

What a difference a year makes! Last winter we were in the throes of El Nino, and with that comes unseasonably warm weather. This year we are dealing with cold, then warm, then cold, then…well, it’s winter in Wisconsin!

With the cold weather we’ve recently been having, Rock Lake is iced over, and the 2017 Lake Mills Main Street Program’s Knickerbocker Ice Festival will go on as planned. It will be a fun day for all to enjoy winter events in Lake Mills! The Knickerbocker Ice Festival, named after the company that harvested ice from Rock Lake in the early 1900s, and the Lake Mills Main Street Program will host a weekend full of indoor and outdoor events to connect Lake Mills with that icy past.

“There are fun activities for the entire family during the Knickerbocker Ice Festival,” said Katie Otto, director of the Lake Mills Main Street Program. “We have activities for people of all ages – from our park games for the kids and adults, to events that are enjoyed by people of all ages.”

Iceberg Open Golf

@ Bartel’s Beach

Sponsored by Lakeland Cold Storage. What could be more fun than that a rousing nine holes of golf on frozen Rock Lake? Don’t miss out on this fun event. Register at TT’s Timeout any time, or starting at 7:30am on game day, if any spots remain. This year, you will pick when you want to tee off by picking your starting time – tee-off times are available from 8:30am to 11:30am. This year, we hope the players will come down early to take a try at the Long Putt Contest (3 putts for $5, or 8 putts for $10) before they tee off. The prize for the Long Putt Contest is 50% of the fees collected – that could be a nice chunk of change! This event is dependent on weather conditions, but we fully expect to see lots of action that day on the lake!

Although we have two new events this year (Ice Softball and free hayrides), we are not having the 5k Run or the Fire & Ice Chili Contest – but we have full confidence that they will both be back in 2018!

Special Thanks to our Gold Sponsors

Much appreciation to the Gold Sponsors of the 2017 Knickerbocker Ice Festival – their overall support of this event ensures the continued success of a fun winter weekend.

This year’s Gold Sponsors are Ephraim Faience Pottery, Lake Mills Market, Harms Insurance Group, Chapter 2, Greenwoods State Bank and Ryan’s Auto Care.

The Knickerbocker Ice Festival is also a great weekend to visit many of the businesses that help make the Ice Festival possible. Michelle Burkard and Rob Lewis of Lewis Station Winery believe that the Knickerbocker Ice Festival is an important weekend for their business.

“The Knickerbocker Ice Festival brings so many locals and tourists to Lake Mills for the fun activities, food and ice wine tasting, making this one of our busiest days of the year.”

When you have exhausted all that downtown Lake Mills has to offer, don’t forget the great businesses beyond the downtown district – many of them are sponsors of this event and they are part of the recipe that makes this community great!
